Back Pain Relief: Medication, Chiropractic, & Surgery

While there is no one-size-fits-all solution for lower back pain, there are several effective treatments that can provide significant relief.

Chiropractic treatment and surgery are two common methods of back pain relief. Both are effective in reducing pain and improving function.

The chiropractor adjusts the body to improve articular stability. It’s called spinal adjustment. Another common treatment for lower back pain is medication.

There are several different types of medication that can be effective in treating lower back pain. These include over-the-counter pain relievers, such as ibuprofen or acetaminophen, and prescription pain medications.

In some cases, surgery may be recommended as a treatment for lower back pain. This is usually only considered when other treatments have not been effective in relieving pain.

Core Chiropractic Treatment

Chronic low back pain is a common problem and pain relief is often the primary goal of treatment. The first adjustment goal setting for the chiropractic treatment plan is driven by the patient’s pain and disability issues and activity intolerance. Consistent among all guidelines of low back pain treatment is the prevention of chronicity.

There are many potential benefits of chiropractic care for low back pain. Chiropractic adjustments can help to restore normal alignment of the spine, which can help to relieve pain and improve function. Chiropractic care may also help to reduce inflammation and muscle spasms, and it can increase range of motion and flexibility.

In addition, chiropractic care is generally considered to be safe. Serious side effects are rare, and most people experience only mild side effects, such as soreness or tenderness, after a chiropractic adjustment.

Manual Therapy

There are many different types of chiropractic treatments, but one of the most common is manual therapy. It is a type of hands-on treatment that involves using the hands to manipulate the joints and soft tissues of the body.

Some types of musculoskeletal conditions include problems on:

Nerve: Relieve pressure on nerves that may be causing pain or other problems.

Leg/Hips: Improve range of motion and reduce pain in the leg/hips.

Knee Joint: Relieve pain and improve range of motion in joints that are not moving properly.

Other treatments: Spinal manipulation

There are many different types of chiropractic treatments, and the type of treatment that is best for you will depend on the cause of your pain. For a herniated disc, you may benefit from spinal decompression therapy, which uses a machine to apply gentle pressure to the spine to relieve pressure on the discs.

For muscle tension, you may benefit from massage or trigger point therapy. And if your pain is due to arthritis, you may benefit from joint mobilization or manipulation.

Passive physical therapies—such as heat, cold, electrical stimulation, and ultrasound—may give you brief relief from pain and discomfort and help you relax during spinal manipulation. But these therapies do not help you prevent long-term problems. Don’t use them on their own.

Chiropractors use a variety of techniques to treat low back pain, including spinal manipulation, massage, and electrical stimulation. Chiropractic treatments also prevent future injuries by improving

Chiropractic Tips For Lower Back Pain

Feet flat on the floor and Use Pillow under Left Leg

Placing a pillow under your left leg will help to take the pressure off of your spine and allow your muscles to relax. Additionally, be sure to keep your feet flat on the floor while you’re performing this stretch. This will ensure that you’re not putting any unnecessary strain on your back.

Strengthen your abdominal muscles through yoga, Pilates, and other core and floor exercises. Exercise will strengthen the support to the spine and prevent other conditions. Stretching also improves posture and reduces stress on the spine.

Pay attention to your posture. When standing, keep your feet shoulder-width apart and firm on the floor, then keep your knees slightly bent. When sitting, make sure your hips are higher than your knees and that you’re not slouching.

Avoid lifting heavy objects. When lifting something heavy, be sure to use proper form and your legs in the proper position. Bend at your knees, not your waist, and keep the object close to your body. Your feet must lay flat on the floor.

Make sure to get up and move around every 30 minutes or so. Taking a brief walk or doing some simple stretches can help keep your back muscles from getting too tight.

However, if your pain persists or becomes worse, be sure to consult your doctor for further health evaluation.

Pain Treatment Exercises

Pelvic Tilt Lie or Glute/Piriformis stretch. Lie on the back with both feet flat on the floor and both knees bent. Rest the ankle of the right leg over the knee of the left leg. Pull the left thigh toward the chest and hold the stretch. Do a “scoop” motion with your pelvis while you press the small of your back into the floor. Repeat for each side.

Knee to chest stretch: Rest on your back on the floor and position your knees bent and pull one knee up to your chest, using your hands to clasp behind the thigh. Hold the stretch for a count of 10, then release and repeat with the other leg.

How long does it take a chiropractor to fix lower back pain?

There are many factors to consider when estimating how long it will take for your back pain to be relieved by chiropractic treatment. The type of pain you’re experiencing, the extent of the injury, and how long you’ve been dealing with it are all important considerations. In general, acute pain (present for less than 3 months) will take less time to heal than chronic pain (present for 3 months or longer).

If you’re considering seeking chiropractic treatment for back pain, it’s important to find a qualified practitioner who has quality experience treating similar conditions. Once you’ve found a Chiropractor you feel comfortable with, be sure to ask about their treatment philosophy and what you can expect in terms of healing time.

It’s also important to keep in mind that chiropractic treatment is not a quick fix. Many cases suggest that it will take several weeks or even months of regular chiropractic adjustments before you see significant improvement. This is because the goal of chiropractic care is to correct the underlying cause of your pain, not just to provide temporary relief.
